Couples counselling

My initial training was with Relate where I trained and qualified as couples counsellor. After qualification and accreditation I worked for Relate in various centres in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset and with Relate National as an Associate for a of years.

I support couples or individuals to work through various relationship issues including communication difficulties, affairs, general relationship dissatisfaction and stagnation, sexual difficulties, sexual disorders and dysfunction, repetitive negative relationship patterns, conflict, life changes (birth, menopause, disease, retirement, death), separation and co-parenting.

I see couples for both Short Term, ‘focussed’ couples therapy ( up to 6-8 weeks), mid term (10-12 sessions) and also longer term (in excess of 12 sessions). The sessions need to be what you need, your budget and your time constraints – all of these factors are discussed and taken into consideration when we first meet. Regardless of our length of time together there is always a focus. I aim to make our time together working time.

I provide a safe, neutral space to hear you both and really listen as you share your feelings, hopes and challenges as we work together on making practical changes that will affect your relationship dynamics and make for healthier, more congruent couple relationships.

My relationship theoretical model is Integrative and I use a mainly psychodynamic and Systemic approach (family systems), drawing on Transactional Analysis (TA) using the PAC model and Ego states and elements of CBT are drawn on too.
